The Carolina Hurricanes acquired forward Erik Haula a few days ago from the Vegas Golden Knights in exchange for prospect Nic Roy in a cap clearing move. With Vegas currently over the upper limit RFA forward Nikita Gusev seems to be on the move and General Manager Don Waddell should come calling.
Originally drafted in the seventh round by the Tampa Bay Lightning in the 2012 NHL Entry Draft, Vegas acquired Gusev’s rights along with Tampa’s second round selection in 2017 and Pittsburgh’s 2018 fourth round pick (previously acquired) for them to select Jason Garrison in the 2017 NHL Expansion Draft.
