Of all the call ups the Carolina Hurricanes made this season, none was more impactful than bringing in Russian forward Valentin Zykov to the mix. Carolina head coach Bill Peters placed Zykov alongside Sebastian Aho and Teuvo Teravainen to form a potential top line for next season.
A few other rookies such as Warren Foegele and Roland McKeown definitely got their chance with the Canes. However, Foegele only got two games with the Canes, before he was sent back down to the Charlotte Checkers. Meanwhile, even though McKeown is back up with the Canes at this moment, he’s been up and down a lot of late.
