The Charlotte Checkers have signed Mitchell Heard to a two way AHL contract. Now, what does that mean for the Carolina Hurricanes? It means that when his contract is up, and the Carolina Hurricanes can resign him, if he has what they are looking for. Heard will have to work hard to prove he can be relied on if he is to make the Carolina Hurricanes roster at any given time. However, that won’t be this season as his two way AHL contract is for him to be strictly on the Charlotte Checkers or the Florida Everblades.
The 24-year-old split his time last season between the AHL’s Stockton Heat and the ECHL’s Adirondack Thunder.
