The Carolina Hurricanes have signed 32-year-old defenseman Tim Gleason to a professional tryout contract. He practiced with the team on Wednesday after not skating for 2 months.
Gleason has had two separate stints with the Hurricanes in his career. He last skated with the team last season prior to being dealt to the Washington Capitals at the trade deadline.
The veteran blue liner has made a career out of being a hard-nosed and defensively stable blue liner, and although he has certainly lost a step, if not 17, over the past few years while battling his age and injuries, bringing him back is a good move considering the disappearing depth on defense.
