Cary police confirmed today that former Carolina Hurricanes defenseman Aaron Ward was arrested on Friday for misdemeanor assault of his wife Kelly. She was also taken into custody for simple assault, which is also a misdemeanor, and has since been released.
Ward was a member of the 2005-2006 Stanley Cup winning team with the Carolina Hurricanes and became an analyst with TSN after retiring in August of 2010.
According to the report from WNCN, Ward has also been charged for interfering with emergency communication after taking his wife’s phone away.
