Not to say that most fans of the Carolina Hurricanes won’t be happy about having a new head coach taking the helm in Raleigh, but there is some speculation about why Bill Peters would go to a team like the Calgary Flames. The Flames just fired their head coach in Glen Gulutzan earlier in the same week they started to target Peters.
Gulutzan was fired just one season after leading the Flames to the 2017 NHL Playoffs. Calgary ended up impatient with the way he, and the rest of his coaching staff, were directing the team.
Reports are starting to come out about Peters actually finalizing a deal with the Flames, and opt out before the last year of his contract with the Canes.
