RALEIGH, NC – Don Waddell, President of the National Hockey League’s Carolina Hurricanes, today announced that the team will honor CEO/Owner/Governor Peter Karmanos Jr. prior to its game on Saturday night against the Philadelphia Flyers. Karmanos was inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame on Monday night in the category of Builder. The Hockey Hall of Fame defines a Builder as an individual who has contributed to the development of the game of hockey, moving the game forward.
Karmanos, 72, has been involved in hockey for 40 years, making an impact in youth hockey, the Ontario Hockey League (OHL), the ECHL and the National Hockey League (NHL).
