Canes Sign Nicolas Roy to Entry-Level Contract

RALEIGH, NCRon Francis, Executive Vice President and General Manager of the National Hockey League’s Carolina Hurricanes, today announced that the team has signed center Nicolas Roy (nih-COH-la wah) to a three year, entry-level contract. On the NHL level, the deal will pay Roy $575,000 in 2016-17, and $650,000 in 2017-18 and 2018-19, or $67,500 per season in the minor leagues, plus a signing bonus of $240,000. Roy will join the Hurricanes’ American Hockey League affiliate, the Charlotte Checkers, for the remainder of the season on an amateur tryout contract.

“Nicolas is a big and skilled center, and is coming off of a great season with Chicoutimi where he led QMJHL in goals,” said Francis.
