Canes Agree to Terms with Matt Tennyson

RALEIGH, NCRon Francis, Executive Vice President and General Manager of the National Hockey League’s Carolina Hurricanes, today announced that the team has agreed to terms with defenseman Matt Tennyson on a one-year, two-way contract. The deal will pay Tennyson $675,000 on the NHL level or $275,000 in the American Hockey League (AHL) in 2016-17.

“Matt gives us added depth on the blueline, as a right-shot defenseman who has proven he can play at the NHL level,” said Francis.

Tennyson, 26, appeared in a career-high 29 NHL games for the San Jose Sharks in 2015-16, totaling four points (1g, 3a), and also played five games for the Sharks’ AHL affiliate, the San Jose Barracuda.
