Cam Ward signs one-day contract, retires from NHL as a Hurricane

Cam Ward’s NHL career is over. This morning, he retired from the league after 14 seasons by signing a one-day contract with the Carolina Hurricanes.

Canes’ GM Don Waddell said the following:

Cam was a cornerstone for this organization for more than a decade,” said Waddell. “From his ‘Cam’s Champs’ program to his efforts with the Hurricanes Foundation and time spent teaching at our hockey camps, he had a tremendous impact on this community.
