RALEIGH, NC – Hockey Canada today announced that Carolina Hurricanes Head Coach Bill Peters has been named to Canada’s coaching staff for the 2016 World Cup of Hockey, to take place in Toronto, Sept. 17-Oct. 1, 2016.
Peters, 50, is in his second season as head coach of the Hurricanes. Prior to joining Carolina, Peters spent three seasons in Detroit as an assistant coach to Canada’s World Cup of Hockey head coach Mike Babcock. Last spring, the Three Hills, Alb., native served as an assistant coach as Canada captured gold at the 2015 International Ice Hockey Federation World Championship in the Czech Republic.
