The Carolina Hurricanes set out to make some franchise history on Thursday night against the Boston Bruins, one win away from their first-ever 6-0 start to a season.
That mission was accomplished, albeit in messy fashion at times throughout the night, thanks in large part to a great start from Frederik Andersen and another rock-solid penalty-killing performance.
The intensity was ramped up from the very start. Ethan Bear leveled Brad Marchand right off of the opening faceoff, which set the tone for the evening.
More tempers flared just before the halfway point of the first period when Sebastian Aho finished a hit on David Pastrnak and helped guide his helmet off of his head.
