Alex Nedeljkovic was called up Tuesday morning in a move that sent Carolina Hurricanes backup goalie Michael Leighton down to Charlotte. While the move looked like an opportunity to get Leighton game-time to stay sharp, that all changed after Cam Ward gave up four goals in the first period and a half against the Blue Jackets. Head coach Bill Peters gave Nedeljkovic the nod in hopes of sparking a flat Canes team.
Nedeljkovic, an Ohio native, made his NHL debut tonight after bouncing around the Hurricane minor league system. While Nedeljkovic is one of the Canes top goaltending prospects, he has struggled at the AHL level.
