After playing 21 games with the Hurricanes in the 2015-2016 campaign, Brock McGinn had high hopes of making the team out of camp this season. It didn’t come to pass right away, though, as the former 2nd round pick started the season with the Charlotte Checkers. McGinn put up five goals and eight points in nine games with the Checkers before being called up on November 12th.
McGinn came to Raleigh on a mission and never did return to Charlotte. Playing in 57 games and tallying a career-high 16 points, McGinn brought a physical presence to the Canes lineup that was drastically needed, posting 91 hits while serving as a reliable penalty killer.
