Kris Versteeg’s return to the lineup appears to be imminent. He’s skating, he’s shed his no-contact jersey, he’s off the injured reserve: and, with 11 games to go in the season, the Flames will need all the help they can get.
Versteeg hasn’t played since Nov. 24, hip surgery taking him out of the lineup for nearly four months. Of the 22 games he has played this season, he’s averaged 13:08 in ice time. Versteeg scored three goals and eight points at the start of the season, with one goal and five points coming on the man advantage, as he was trusted with top powerplay time before going down.
