COLUMBUS — Senators coach Dave Cameron will shuffle the deck on defence Saturday night.
And it will stay that way until somebody grabs the job.
The Senators will make one change on the blueline by inserting Chris Wideman in for Patrick Wiercioch against the Columbus Blue Jackets at Nationwide Arena, but this has nothing to do with any kind of rotation.
“Waiting for somebody to grab it. It’s an opportunity for both,” Cameron said after the morning skate Saturday. “I don’t know if it’s a challenge. The reality has been stated.”
Ottawa has seven healthy defencemen but Wiercioch wasn’t very good in the club’s 4-3 loss to the Colorado Avalanche Thursday night.
