RED DEER – Hockey players don’t usually change their stripes.
Snipers don’t usually become playmakers.
But that’s what appears to have happened to Jayce Hawryluk.
The Bandon Wheat Kings centre finished second in the WHL with 47 goals during the regular season.
In the post-season, the goals have been harder to come by. He endured a 12-game goal-less drought, the longest dry spell of his career since midway through his sophomore season in 2013-14.
But he’s contributed a league-high 23 helpers this spring.
And if you ask Wheaties teammate John Quenneville, Hawryluk hasn’t changed his game at all.
