Calgary Flames forward Sean Monahan scored on the power play to give his team a 1–0 lead early in the second period of Monday’s game against the Winnipeg Jets.
Monahan took a pass from Andrew Mangiapane just inside the Jets’ defensive blue line, skated in on goaltender Connor Hellebuyck, and fired a perfect wrister into the top-right corner of the net.
Noah Hanifin picked up the secondary assist on Monahan’s eighth goal of the season, which came at the 1:07 mark of the middle frame.
Monahan’s goal came shortly after he was demoted off the Flames’ top PP unit in favour of new trade acquisition Tyler Toffoli.
