Calgary Flames goaltender Jacob Markström and winger Andrew Mangiapane combined forces in the second period of Monday’s game against the New York Rangers to help the Flames maintain and grow their lead.
Less than two minutes after the puck dropped to start the middle frame, the Rangers broke into the offensive zone and moved the puck around the Flames’ defenders with a series of crisp passes.
Rangers forward Sammy Blais received a pass from Julien Gauthier as he darted past Flames defencemen Erik Gudbranson and Juuso Välimäki. Blais neatly deflected the puck towards the goal but Markström managed to keep it out with his right pad.
