Jack Eichel was forced to play a little defence on Thursday.
Facing a horde of reporters during media availability at the NHL Draft Combine in Buffalo, Eichel, this year's consensus No. 2 prospect, clarified something Buffalo Sabres GM Tim Murray quoted him as saying the day prior.
Murray revealed to a local radio station that Eichel, in a formal interview with the team's brass on Wednesday, told the Sabres he was the best prospect in the draft.
Yes, better than Connor McDavid, the most promising and talked about hockey prospect since Sidney Crosby.
"I'm pretty confident in my own abilities," Eichel said Thursday.
