Calgary Flames winger Johnny Gaudreau broke mostly uncontested into the Edmonton Oilers’ zone late in the first period of Monday’s edition of the Battle of Alberta.
With Oilers defencemen Duncan Keith and Cody Ceci lagging behind in pursuit, Gaudreau unleashed a shot that flew over the glove of goaltender Mikko Koskinen. The puck caromed off the right post before ultimately nestling itself on top of the camera perched inside the net, giving the Flames a 2-0 lead in the dying minutes of the opening 20.
