Two-time Stanley Cup winner Brad Richards announced his retirement from the National Hockey League on Wednesday.
The Murray Harbour, P.E.I., native played 1,126 games with the Tampa Bay Lightning, Dallas Stars, New York Rangers, Chicago Blackhawks and Detroit Red Wings. Richards scored 298 goals and added 634 assists throughout his career.
Richards won a Cup with the Lightning in 2004 and also earned the Conn Smythe Trophy as the playoffs MVP. He won a second Cup with Chicago in 2015, assisting on Patrick Kane's series-clinching goal in a Game 6 win over Tampa Bay. In total, he had 105 points in 146 post-season games.
