DENVER — Jarome Who!?
That was a front-page headline in the Calgary Sun sports section and a question on the lips of hockey fans across the city — from Bowness to Bridgeland, Mount Royal to Marlborough — after the Flames traded star centre Joe Nieuwendyk to the Dallas Stars in December 1995 in exchange for journeyman forward Corey Millen and a talented teenager who’d been scoring in bunches for the Western Hockey League’s Kamloops Blazers.
Well ... Jarome Who!? — it’s Iginla, of course — didn’t waste a golden opportunity shortly after the swap to make a name for himself at the 1996 IIHF World Junior Hockey Championship in Massachusetts.
