It sure came crashing down in a hurry.
Byron, who received a recall in time for Wednesday’s Calgary Flames game against the Dallas Stars, suffered a fractured left hand in the first period.
There’s no timetable set for his return.
Byron, in his second season with the Flames organization after coming from the Buffalo Sabres in the deal which sent Robyn Regehr the other way, was called up from the AHL Abbotsford Heat for the first time this season.
He started the game at centre — his natural position, which he didn’t play during any stints in Calgary last season — and playing on a line with Jarome Iginla and Curtis Glencross.
