TJ Brodie out on week-to-week basis with broken hand: 'It's definitely not the way to start'

Calgary Flames defenceman TJ Brodie will be out on a week-to-week basis after suffering a broken bone in his right hand in Monday's pre-season game at the Saddledome.

It won't require surgery, but he's expect to be out of action for the next three to six weeks.

“It's definitely not the way to start (the season), but there's nothing you can do about it now,” Brodie said on Wednesday. “It's just trying to stay in shape and be back as quick as possible.

“The d-corps is pretty deep this year and I'm sure it'll be an opportunity for someone.
