For all the excitement of beating the Edmonton Oilers on Saturday night, the Calgary Flames can't escape their reality.
With their 3-8-1 record, they had one of the worst opening months in franchise history, as well as one of their worst marks a dozen games into a season.
Sure, their 5-4 victory over the Oilers, capped by Michael Frolik's winning buzzer-beater from the corner with 8.7 seconds on the clock, was exhilarating for the Flames and their faithful. But right now it's a team living on hope as it readies to next face the Colorado Avalanche on Tuesday.
