Welcome back to another edition of Throwback Thursday!
On this day in 1992, Calgary Flames legend Lanny McDonald was nominated for election to the Hockey Hall of Fame. He was inducted that year.
Calgary Herald writer Eric Duhatschek said McDonald learned of it through Vancouver Canucks PR rep Steve Tambellini.
“I’m a little embarrassed by it all. It caught me off guard. It’s something you always dream of happening. I don’t know what else to say. It’s a real honor.”
McDonald finished his career with 1111 regular-season games played scoring 1006 points.
