The Edge School is becoming a Calgary Hitmen pipeline.
Rookie Jake Bean, a former Edge blueliner, became one of the team’s top blueliners despite going unnoticed at last year’s WHL Bantam Draft.
Apparently, the Hitmen paid closer attention to the school this time.
And that’s where they went for their first-round pick in Thursday’s draft, selecting Tristen Nielsen 20th overall.
Hitmen director of player personnel Dan Bonar said he expects the 5-foot-9, 168-pounder to add some offensive sizzle down
the road.
“Tristen is a dynamic offensive player and tremendous skater who also plays with a physical edge,” Bonar said.
