QUEBEC CITY - It was an exhibition game. A warm-up. Meaningless, when it came to the score and the result.

But that’s not what the Team North America players were saying about their first bit of action in the World Cup of Hockey.

“I don’t think anybody’s looking at this as an exhibition game,” said Connor McDavid, who was named captain prior to Thurday’s exhibition game against Team Europe. “There’s no points at the end of the game, but we’re all looking at this as the start of tournament play. We’re playing to win. We’re not coasting into this.
