MONTREAL - Turns out sticks and stones do break bones.
Especially in the case of P.K. Subban and Mark Stone.
As the Senators and Montreal Canadiens prepare for Game 2 here on Friday night, GM Bryan Murray and the players were boiling-mad on Thursday as the club revealed it will be without its top-scoring rookie for an indefinite period after he suffered a microfracture and ligament damage to his right wrist.
Officially, Stone is doubtful and hasn’t been completely ruled out for Game 2. He may try to test it at the morning skate.
Already down 1-0 in the series after a 4-3 loss on Wednesday, the task just got a lot more difficult for the Senators after Murray confirmed Stone won’t be playing anytime soon after a vicious two-handed slash by Subban that went unpunished by the NHL’s department of player safety.
