The search for bright lights in the Ottawa Senators’ dismal limp to the finish line is difficult, given the embarrassing repetition of the same old mistakes and inattention to detail around their own net and at the blue lines.
Fortunately for the Senators and their hopes for a brighter future, they can point to Mark Stone. With owner Eugene Melnyk making his oh-so-loud vows for necessary changes earlier this week, here’s a helpful suggestion for whoever is standing behind the Senators bench as coach next season: give Stone a permanent “A” as an alternate captain.
Stone is currently wearing the letter, but only because Kyle Turris, Chris Neil and Dion Phaneuf are sidelined with injuries.
