TORONTO - A Stanley Cup ring was stolen during a break-and-enter last month, and Toronto Police have turned to the public for help recovering the family heirloom.
The ring belonged to former Toronto Maple Leafs defenceman Philip Samis was on the 1948 Cup-winning team.
It was stolen, along with other jewelry, from a home in the Yonge St. and Deloraine Ave. area on March 5.
Police released a photo of the engraved ring and are asking anyone with information in the case to contact them at 416-808-3200 or through Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS.
Samis spent most of his hockey career in the minors and retired in 1953.
