When he was named the first GM and head coach of the ECHL’s Las Vegas Wranglers, Glen Gulutzan placed a call to the Saddledome, hammering out an affiliation deal with Darryl Sutter for Sin City to serve as a minor-league outpost for the Calgary Flames.
Thirteen years later, the Flames called Gulutzan.
The current regime in Calgary is searching — yes, still — for a head coach.
There is widespread speculation the 44-year-old Gulutzan — a former bench boss for the Dallas Stars and an assistant for the Vancouver Canucks for the past three seasons — is at the top of their list.
