Sidney Crosby named Canada's World Cup team captain

If winning games comes as easy as naming a captain for the upcoming World Cup, Team Canada will have an excellent chance of having a successful tournament.

To the surprise of absolutely no one, Hockey Canada Thursday named Crosby captain of Team Canada for the upcoming World Cup of Hockey, which runs from Sept. 17-27 at the Air Canada Centre in Toronto. Chicago Blackhawks forward Jonathan Toews and Montreal Canadiens defenceman Shea Weber will support Crosby as Team Canada’s alternate captains.

Crosby, 29, has won two Stanley Cup championships since becoming captain of the Penguins during the 2007-08 season.
