Perhaps, Chris Higgins can convince one of his former pals to take a dive.
For the 33-year-old winger to turn a training-camp tryout into a contract offer from the Calgary Flames, he will need to prove his prowess on the penalty-kill.
And with his former employers, the Vancouver Canucks, visiting for Friday's exhibition date at the Saddledome, a few shorthanded scenarios for the home side would actually help him present his case.
"With Higgy, one of the reasons we brought him in is what we did today (in practice) and that was the penalty-kill and the power-play, and he's really dialled in," said Flames new head coach Glen Gulutzan, an assistant in Vancouver for three of Higgins' half-dozen campaigns on the West Coast.
