TORONTO - This could be viewed as expediency trumping experience when Kyle Dubas hiring Sheldon Keefe as the new coach of the Toronto Marlies, following his former general manager from the Sault Ste. Marie Greyhounds.
But using the same argument that Maple Leafs president Brendan Shanahan made for bringing him in at 27 to be assistant GM, Dubas was adamant he’d made the right call for the AHL farm team.
“If we didn’t hire Sheldon, someone else would have in the next month,” Dubas predicted as the 34-year-old Keefe met the media Monday at his new office at Ricoh Coliseum.
