Senators owner Eugene Melnyk is in a fight for his life.
Noticeable by his absence from the public eye, the Senators confirmed Thursday Melnyk is hospitalized and needs a liver transplant.
The Senators released a statement at 2:30 p.m. They are having a public appeal to try to get Melnyk a new liver.
"Today, the club wishes to share with the hockey community and our fans that Mr. Melnyk has been sick and battling major health issues since mid-January. Since then, his medical care and treatment have been the sole focus for him and his family," the club said.
