MONTREAL - Mark Stone had the book thrown at him by the NHL.
The Senators winger was given a two-game suspension by the NHL’s department of player safety Monday for his hit on Detroit Red Wings winger Landon Ferraro Saturday night in Ottawa. Stone had a phone hearing with league disciplinarian Stephane Quintal and the safety group Monday before practice.
“I thought it was a hockey play and the league thinks it’s a hit to the head. That’s all that matters is what the league thinks. It doesn’t matter what I think,” Cameron said.
He said it was a natural reaction.
