Regina Pats forward Sam Steel proved too much for the Calgary Hitmen on Friday.
Steel had a hat trick in a 6-2 win against the Hitmen at the Brandt Centre in Regina, taking over the lead in the Western Hockey League scoring race.
Steel, 18, a product of Sherwood Park, also had an assist to finish the game with four points. He has 30 goals and 69 points in 31 games.
Jordy Stallard and Matteo Gennaro scored for the Hitmen who have lost three straight (0-1-2). Hitmen goaltender Cody Porter gave up three goals on 17 shots before being replaced midway through the second period.
