When Patrick Kane was accused of sexually assaulting a woman at his summer home in Hamburg, N.Y., it was the kind of allegation that naturally received a lot of attention. This was, after all, a star player in the NHL who had just won his third Stanley Cup with the Chicago Blackhawks in the last six years.
Kane is a celebrity. But even if he wasn’t, the investigation into his alleged assault this week took the kind of turn normally reserved for the movies.
