The Calgary Flames have an opening on their coaching staff according to ESPN’s Kevin Weekes. That’s because, per a report by Weekes on Twitter, Flames assistant coach Ryan Huska will become the next head coach of the Chicago Blackhawks.

The 46-year-old Huska is a hocker lifer. He played major junior in the Western Hockey League, winning three Memorial Cups as a player on a Kamloops Blazers team that included Jarome Iginla. After a brief stint in minor pro, Huska opted to retire and head into coaching.
As a coach, Huska has been on a distinct upward trajectory.
