PEBBLE BEACH, CALIF. - The Florida Panthers are staying put, thanks to a positive vote by Broward County late Tuesday to give the franchise $86 million US in support.
So, apparently, are the Carolina Hurricanes, whose owner, Peter Karmanos, feels the arena lease the team has in Raleigh is too good for the franchise to pick up and leave.
So much for the speculation that these two money-bleeding franchises were the leading candidates to land in Quebec City as part of a relocation process.
All that could change, of course. Remember how quickly, to the shock of many, the Atlanta franchise ended up in Winnipeg not so long ago?
