RED DEER – Conner Bleackley had no business being on the ice.
His surgically repaired wrist was far from fully healed.
But nothing was going to keep him from playing in the Memorial Cup.
Bleackley and the Rebels kept a lid on his status leading up to the start of the Memorial Cup but after the hosts were eliminated in Friday’s semifinal, Bleackley finally revealed what he was dealing with.
“It was good enough to play,” said Bleackley, who had tendons severed by a skate blade in the regular-season finale against the Edmonton Oil Kings.
