Mats Zuccarello had a cracked skull and couldn’t speak for four days after taking a puck to the head during the first round of the NHL playoffs.
Three days after the New York Rangers were eliminated by the Tampa Bay Lightning in seven games, Zuccarello revealed the injury he suffered when he took a puck from fellow teammate Ryan McDonagh’s shot off the side of the head during Game 6 of their series against the Pittsburgh Penguins.
“I don’t know what you guys know, but there was a small fracture in my head,” Zuccarello said Monday from Madison Square Garden at the Rangers’ breakup day.
