In the biggest weekend of their season, everything went right for the Calgary Hitmen.
After beating the Lethbridge Hurricanes in back-to-back games on Friday and Saturday, the Hitmen returned home for a date with the Edmonton Oil Kings on Sunday afternoon knowing that a win would put them three points up on the Saskatoon Blades for the WHL Eastern Conference’s final playoff position.
If fatigue was a factor, it didn’t show, as the Hitmen rode a strong start by returning goalie Cody Porter and knocked off the Oil Kings 5-2.
Suddenly, the Hitmen are in the driver’s seat for a playoff position and appear to be peaking at the exact right moment.
