SAN JOSE — As Sidney Crosby lifted over his head the most cherished of trophies in the sport he most loves, he must have felt like he was lifting the weight of the world off his shoulders.
He wasn’t the only one.
The most special aspect of these Pittsburgh Penguins, Stanley Cup champions of the National Hockey League, is the stories of redemption almost each and every one of them could reflect on as they hoisted hockey’s Holy Grail into the air Sunday.
For Crosby, the 3-1 victory over the San Jose Sharks and the ensuing second Cup of his career was yet another chapter to his mushrooming legacy, one in which he now has won as many as the legendary Mario Lemieux.
