Paul Maurice open to idea of Burmistrov returning to Winnipeg

Count Paul Maurice among those who is open to a return by Alex Burmistrov, provided that's the direction the Winnipeg Jets choose to go and a contract can be worked out.

After spending the past two seasons playing for Ak-Bars Kazan in the Kontinental Hockey League, Burmistrov has expressed an interest to returning to the NHL and his agent, Mike Liut, has been involved in what Kevin Cheveldayoff has called productive discussions that will continue.

Burmistrov, chosen eighth overall by the Atlanta Thrashers in the 2010 NHL Draft, was unhappy with his role under former head coach Claude Noel and bolted for Russia when he became a restricted free agent.
