In the history of the Flames franchise, 606 players have tugged a red sweater over their heads and suited up for a regular season game. Of those, 22 played just a single game for either the Calgary or Atlanta Flames. We call them One Game Wonders.
Let’s talk about another One Game Wonder, Gerry O’Flaherty.
A product of the Ontario Hockey League, O’Flaherty was drafted by Toronto in the third round of the 1970 NHL Draft. He played a couple games with the Leafs, then got claimed by Vancouver in the 1972 Interleague Draft.
He spent six seasons with the Canucks before signing with the Minnesota North Stars as a free agent.
