The Edmonton Oilers have decided to retain just three of their pending free agents for now.
On Monday, the Oilers announced restricted free agents Justin Schultz, Brandon Davidson and Tyler Pitlick were issued qualifying offers by the club.
Keith Aulie, Matt Fraser, Derek Roy, Viktor Fasth, Tyler Bunz, Curtis Hamilton, Richard Bachman and Kellan Lain are among those set to become unrestricted free agents.
Of the three players qualified, only Schultz, 24, has made an impact at the NHL level.
The free agent signing out of the University of Wisconsin has spent the past three seasons with the Oilers.
