SUNRISE, Fla. - Oilers general manager Peter Chiarelli promised all week he was going to get a goalie and on Saturday at the NHL Draft, he delivered.
Chiarelli also vowed he wasn’t going to overpay, and he didn’t.
The Oilers came away with Cam Talbot, one of the most coveted of the available goaltenders, for the modest price of three draft picks - 57, 79 and 184.
Talbot has been a backup to Henrik Lundqvist in New York for the last two seasons, playing in 57 games.
